The story behind the product
Contextur started as a command line tool built for one person.
Javier E. Otero spent years working at the intersection of design, technology, and complex information — building digital systems for mission-driven organizations where the stakes were high and the details mattered. The AI problem kept showing up the same way: the tools were capable, but what you gave them rarely was.
So he built a fix for himself. A way to take real files (messy, varied, sensitive) and prepare them properly before they ever reached an AI. It worked well enough that stopping felt like a step backward.
Contextur is that tool, built for everyone who's hit the same ceiling.
Contextur was co-founded with Camila Di Mauri, an M&A attorney whose legal precision shaped the product's foundational approach to consent, ownership, and data privacy. Together they built something that reflects both disciplines: technically rigorous and legally grounded, with user control at its center.
Javier is an Apple Design Award winner, a Goldman Sachs 10K Small Businesses graduate, Executive Member and Juror for the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, and CEO of Futurehaus — a Chicago-based studio working at the intersection of design, technology, and civic imagination.
